I played with my two grandsons for a couple of hours immediately after receiving this flash simon and felt in love. I recall playing the classic round Simon game at time I was young, and now I can play it with them and can have a good time. Flash Simon has four different SIMON games all in one game. Red is SIMON Shuffle, Yellow is SIMON Lights Off, Blue is SIMON Secret Color and Green is the SIMON Classic game. The innovative technology lets the cubes identify when you shuffle, score or win. It is compact and easily packable. It is powered by 8 AAA batteries and are already included in the package. You would better prepare some rechargeable batteries since it's likely that you will be playing with it often. Overall, Simon Flash is a good toy and also a good toy to show off.

I used to love my old Simon game as a child and was thrilled to see my kids take to this toy like ducks to water. The premise is simple. The four cubes light up in different colors, communicate with each other and they can be used in four different game modes.
The most popular mode with my kids, surprisingly, was the old version - Simon Classic. You pop the four cubes into the case to keep them together, you press the green cube to select the classic game and the lights flash in sequence and wait for you to then tap the cubes in the same sequence. At each success, another flash is added on. A great one player game.
The second most popular mode was Simon Lights Off. You shuffle the cubes and line them up to see if the lights will turn off. Each cube has only one position in which in which the light switches off. You need to figure out where all the cubes go in relation to each other within 90 seconds.
Simon Secret color is basically a lights on version of Simon Lights Off. You shuffle and line up the cubes to try to get them all to change to the same color. The player has two minutes to keep trying different secret colors and the cubes keep track of the score.
Simon shuffle is basically a memory game. The lights flash in a pattern and then change color. The child to remember the pattern and line the cubes up in order.
I really like Simon Flash because, even with the sheer simplicity, it encourages the child to focus, think and plan his next move. The feedback is immediate and it works very well in a solo or multi player mode. I was amazed at how quickly the kids were able to remember very long sequences. The timed feature of Simon Lights Off and Simon Color were useful to me since one of my kids detests working with a timer and usually cannot perform under that kind of stress. He seems to be handling the timed aspect much better now. I had thought that it would not hold the interest of my sons for long but they return to it regularly even after two weeks of owning it. This is with a Wii and computer in competition for their time!
I do dislike the fact that each cube uses two AAA batteries. The game comes with 8 batteries already included. I tend to avoid using regular batteries if possible and will replace these with rechargables when they finally run out.
A mildly annoying feature is the beep made when each cube is pressed. There is a mute option for the game but the beeps seem to be a huge draw for the kids. So, if you are easily annoyed you may want to make this a toy that stays out of your way.
Bottom line. a good tweak on a popular classic game.
